April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing guitar and taking piano classes, which ignited her passion for songwriting. At the age of 12 April came up with her first original song Different. The singer spent much of her the time of 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. Soon after, April started traveling with her father and to write songs either in NY as well as LA. April featured other topics in her track, Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt issues like peer pressure, disabilities or even teen suicidal thinking. Lockhart is also gaining a growing popularity as a lifestyle influencer as well as a spokesperson for the popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. Her birthplace didn't come with a left-hand, which is the reason she's what she is. It's just not the whole story. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not conceal her status as disabled however, it doesn't concentrate on the fact that she is disabled. What message is it sending? The message? We have many different aspects, that our physical and identity self aren't as they appear. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I don't think that should define my character. My goal is not to have an impact on disability, because I've so much more to offer." But it does not affect my day-to-day living. I continue to do my normal activities and have adjusted to my disabilities. It's a big aspect of my existence, so it is important that we talk about it. Her journey to self-acceptance is one that will last an entire lifetime. She has been a source of inspiration with regard to this. However, she admits to going through periods that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance and wearing clothing with arms. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on social media with pride. It's all a process is what I don't know that you ever arrive she says of self-love. However, I believe that's the case for everyone, whatever they are struggling with. It is important to have people around you who are aware of and can relate to the way you feel. They'll be the ones who ask you: What do you think about?
